PAPPOU'S GARDEN SCENTED CANDLE

//

[Heirloom]

The sequel to and partner in crime of YIAYIA'S BAKLAVA.

After being on the receiving end of many 'what about Pappou?!' questions, we have created PAPPOU'S GARDEN - a herbaceous dedication to Grandfathers alike, via a fragrant journey through their garden sanctuaries of pride and joy.

The strong accord is a savory vegetal concoction of earthy greens which of course, sits in stark contrast to his sweet and spicy spouse [and candle counterpart].

Top //    Mint, basil

Mid //    Calone, thyme, olive

Base //   Tomato leaf, galbanum

350 grams of scented soy candle.   45 hour burn time.

INSPIRATION

Each summer, my brother and I would spend our school holidays with our Grandparents.  As the sun [HELIOS] began to set, Pappou, would ritualistically take to his garden with us of course, his [somewhat forced] helpers and companions.

Tugging the squeaking hose from the wheel mounted on the brick wall, he would remind us that nothing beats home grown.

He carefully doused each of his prized plants with a generous spray of water, pointing out to us that some needed more than others.

The random but fragrant combination of summer heat, clean clothes dancing on the clothesline and water meeting his earthy green garden has burnt a scent imprint into my brain like no other.

At the time, I could think of a million ways I would rather have spent my summer holidays.  Now, I can think of none.

CANDLE CARE

Failure to follow instructions could result in fire, hazard or injury.  Keep candle and flame away from children and animals.  Never leave a lit candle unattended.  Remove all packaging before lighting candle.  Do not burn candle for longer than 4 hour intervals.  Always burn candle on a level, stable fire/heat resistant surface.  Keep away from things that catch fire.  Keep away from drafty areas.

INSTRUCTIONS

Keep the wick trimmed to 6mm to ensure even burning and ensure your first burn is long enough to create an even pool of wax along to surface of the candle - we recommend 4 hours.  This will avoid the candle from tunneling.  Ensure candle is free of any foreign or flammable materials including matches and wick trimmings before burning.  Keep wax pool free of debris.  Do not touch or move candle when it is burning/hot.  Store candle in a cool dry place below 25 degrees celsius and keep away from direct sunlight.  Stop burning when 2cm of wax remains at the bottom of the jar.  This will prevent possible heat damage to the counter/surface or container itself.  Please note that the glass candle container will get hot on the bottom as the flame nears the base of the jar and most of the wax has been consumed.
