CHANGING MAΣKS OF PEONY SCENTED CANDLE

///

[Seasons change]

THEMATIKOS /// M_THETA_ART

A limited-edition collaboration with Mikaella Theofanopoulou.

Alongside Mikaella, we wanted to capture the notion of the changing seasons.  The idea that a cold winter is not forever is very much at the heart of this accord.  As well as its fragrant notes it is also very much a visual celebration - a depiction of the return to bright colours and the peace and harmony we miss.

Changing masks is dedicated to the seasonal change from winter to spring.   This transition for us is very much marked by the return of the pink peony - a symbol of hope.  Bright pink blooms pop in stark contrast to the bare and bleak winter branches.  A colourful floral reminder that warmer days are coming.

The addition of pomegranate also has mythological significance and is a nod to the story of Hades and Persephone - one of our favourites.

Top ///    Rose stem, plum

Mid ///   Summer peony, magnolia, may rose

Base ///   Amber, pomegranate

350 grams of scented soy candle.   45 hour burn time.

CANDLE FEATURES

Each collaboration candle label is hand marked /30.  Our label proudly features Mikaella's artwork on a textured cotton rag stock, emulating the canvas paper on which Mikaella produces her pieces.

We have changed the colour of our wax to a pale pink, aligning it with Mikaella's artwork on our white gloss vessel.

ABOUT MIKAELLA

M_Theta__Art - Ms Mikaella Theofanopoulou is an Athens based independent artist & designer.  After receiving her Masters in Applied Design in Architecture Ms Theofanopoulou engaged with interior design, drawing inspiration from the traditional Japanese aesthetics of the wabi-sabi philosophy.

Her obsessive admiration for the clean lines & organic forms of interiors of unobtrusive beauty, stimulated her to shift her perspective towards the creation of artworks that reveal this kind of authenticity.

Drawing her inspiration from minimalism to expressionism, she communicates her abstract ideas with a refined single line visual language, perceived universally but subject to multiple interpretations. Her art is all about exploring genuineness in existing imperfection through the simplicity of a single line, rejecting everything superfluous. Her works invite you to discover that the most intricate sentiment can emerge even from a smooth, subtle line.

The elegance of a less-is-more mentality and the variety of all these distinct emotions are reflected in her one-line drawings which currently depict people’s faces.  M_Theta_ encourages you to ”embrace your inner ‘hygge’ through imperfect raw lines”.

The size of her art is diverse, as she isn’t only creating artworks for small scale projects but she is also commissioned to produce large scale art for high-end residential or hotel projects, using walls as her canvas. M_theta_’s artworks are available for sale offering worldwide shipping. Apart from the original artworks, her designs are produced as Limited Edition Prints of different sizes too. They all come with their Certificate of Authenticity, signed, numbered and named.

CANDLE CARE

Failure to follow instructions could result in fire, hazard or injury.  Keep candle and flame away from children and animals.  Never leave a lit candle unattended.  Remove all packaging before lighting candle.  Do not burn candle for longer than 4 hour intervals.  Always burn candle on a level, stable fire/heat resistant surface.  Keep away from things that catch fire.  Keep away from drafty areas.

INSTRUCTIONS

Keep the wick trimmed to 6mm to ensure even burning and ensure your first burn is long enough to create an even pool of wax along to surface of the candle - we recommend 4 hours.  This will avoid the candle from tunneling.  Ensure candle is free of any foreign or flammable materials including matches and wick trimmings before burning.  Keep wax pool free of debris.  Do not touch or move candle when it is burning/hot.  Store candle in a cool dry place below 25 degrees celsius and keep away from direct sunlight.  Stop burning when 2cm of wax remains at the bottom of the jar.  This will prevent possible heat damage to the counter/surface or container itself.  Please note that the glass candle container will get hot on the bottom as the flame nears the base of the jar and most of the wax has been consumed.
